  1. How much are membership dues and are there tiered fees for different kinds of businesses?Membership dues are $495 for both builder and associate members. $182 goes to the national association, NAHB; $120 goes to the state association, HBAM; and $193 is retained by our local association, HBAGTA.
  2. When is my membership dues payment due?
    Membership is for a full 12 month period. If you joined in February, for example, you may expect a bill to arrive about 30 days prior to your expiration date.
  3. How can I pay my dues? Is there a payment plan available?
    Dues may be paid by check or credit card. Online payments may also be made by logging on to  You will see the Member Login box on the top right corner of the website.  In addition, a payment plan is plan is available by contacting the HBA office at (231) 946-2305.
  4. When and where are meetings held? What can I expect to see or do there?
    General Membership Meetings are held the 2nd Monday of each month from September through May. Currently, these are hosted by members at their company’s location. A Builder Forum which is an educational or informational session is held at each meeting from 4:30-5:15 p.m. Typically a light dinner or heavy hors d’oeuvres is served. During the informal part of the meeting, members and guests are encouraged to network. Information about important upcoming events is also shared.
  5. How can I get more involved? 
    There are several HBA Committees that provide opportunities for members to get better acquainted with colleagues and help provide support for association events. Check out the list of committees and feel free to contact the chairperson or the HBA office if you’d like to learn more or attend an upcoming meeting.
  6. How can I get my name out there more?
    The greatest number of leads and business growth opportunities result from participating. Consider joining a committee or volunteering for one of the HBA activities and events. Also you may wish to be a sponsor of our Tuesday Toolbox e-newsletter, advertise prominently on our HBA website or consider sponsorship of one of the anchor events. In addition, we welcome members with particular skills and expertise to host a seminar at the HBA office.
  7. What advertising opportunities are there with the HBA? 
    Companies and individuals can promote their products and services by advertising on the HBA website, in the Membership Directory or in the Home Expo, Parade of Homes & Developments or the Showcase of Remodeled Homes publications.
