 GREEN BUILD GRAND TRAVERSE is a program affiliate of the National Green Building Program
The committee is open to all HBAGTA members on a voluntary basis and meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Home Builders of the Grand Traverse Area office.
GREEN BUILD GRAND TRAVERSE activities include:
- Sponsorship of National Speakers and their presentations in the Grand Traverse Area including Building Science and Green Building Experts Ron Jones, Joe Lstiburek and Doug Garrett
- Green building education and resource venues including "Green Solutions 4" (GS4) EXPO, courses through Northwestern Michigan College (NMC), partnership with the Traverse Area Association of REALTORS® in "greening" their MLS, a Green Building Standards User Group as well as "Grand Traverse Green Conference", a local conference held on February 5 & 6, 2010.
- Establishment of a nationally recognized local Green Building Certification Program which was retired in May, 2009 to partner with the NAHB Green Build™ Program
- Publication of a "Green Building Manual" complete with a Certification Check List adapted to the Northwest Michigan Climate.
