On July 12, 2007, Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm signed S94, the Michigan Business Tax (MBT) Act, which imposes a business income tax and a modified gross receipts tax. The new MBT becomes effective January 1, 2008, replacing the state’s current Single Business Tax which expires on December 31, 2007.
