Housing Rally at State Capitol

The battle for affordable housing across Michigan rallied hundreds to the Capitol. A bi-partisan group of state lawmakers and Michigan homebuilders introduced a package of bills to stimulate Michigan's housing sector. Their plan is called "stand up for housing: foundation for recovery." Lawmakers say the bills would quickly boost the housing market and Michigan's overall economy.

Fred Miller, State Rep. Macomb County: "I don't' think it's an exaggeration to say that Michigan homebuilders are fighting for their lives. They've put in a lot of investment and they want to continue, but they need some help from Lansing."

Supporters of the plan want lawmakers to pass the package of bills and send it to the governor for approval before summer recess.
