Privacy Policy

This privacy policy governs the manner in which the Home Builders Association of the Grand Traverse Area, Inc. collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from you.  User privacy is very important to the Home Builders Association of the Grand Traverse Area (HBAGTA).  We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users.

1. The Information We Collect. The HBAGTA may collect information from users in a variety of ways, including through on-line forms for ordering products and services, and other instances where users are invited to volunteer such information.
2. How We Use Information.  The HBAGTA may use information gathered through our web site to contact users regarding products and services offered by the HBAGTA and otherwise to enhance user's experience with HBAGTA. The HBAGTA may also use information collected through our website for research regarding the effectiveness of the website and the marketing, advertising, and sales offers of the Home Builders Association of the Grand Traverse Area.
3. Disclosure of Information.  The HBAGTA will not disclose or sell information collected from users to third parties.  However, we may disclose aggregate, anonymous data based on information collected from users to investors and potential partners. We may transfer information collected from users in connection with the relocation of the HBAGTA. Finally, we will disclose your information to third parties as necessary to process your transaction (such as disclosure to credit card processors).
4. Maintenance of Information. Information about users that is maintained on our systems is protected using industry standard security measures. However, we cannot guarantee that the information submitted to, contained on, or transmitted from our systems will be completely secure.
5. Security.  The security of your information is very important to us. We use a 128-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to protect the security of your online order. SSL technology encrypts your information to protect it from being decoded by anyone other than the Home Builders Association of the Grand Traverse Area. Once you begin the order process, your computer will begin communicating with our server in secure mode.

Spam Policy

The Home Builders Association of the Grand Traverse Area, Inc (HBAGTA) has a no tolerance spam policy.  All electronic communication by email or newsletter will include an unsubscribe link as required by law.  Any person or business who wishes to unsubscribe to electronic communication sent by the HBAGTA can do so by using this unsubscribe link. 

Active members of the HBAGTA also have the option of updating their profile on the HBAGTA web site to indicate how they would like to receive information from the Association.  They are able to select an alternate method of communication if they do not wish to receive email from the HBAGTA.<

The HBAGTA will only send electronic communication to recipients who have elected to receive the communications by “opting in”, or those who have a pre-existing business relationship either as a member of the organization or anyone who has participated in Association events including the Home Builders EXPO, Parade of Homes and the Showcase of remodeled homes.

Cancellation Policy

The Cancellation Policy of the Home Builders Association of the Grand Traverse Area, Inc. (HBAGTA) includes:
Membership:

• Membership can be cancelled at any time; however, the dues payment will not be refunded unless the cancellation is made within 30 days from payment date or month end, whichever comes first and a written request is made to the Executive Officer with the reason for the cancellation. 

• Memberships are renewed on an annual basis with the 12 month renewal based on the initial month of membership.  In accordance with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) guidelines, memberships that remain unpaid 30 days after the renewal month will be cancelled.  Association benefits are no longer available to the member who is past due until such time that full payment is made to reactivate the membership.  If payment is made within 90 days of the renewal month, the renewal month will remain the same.  If the payment is made after a time period of 90 days from the renewal month, the member is required to pay an additional $25 administrative fee and the renewal month will begin with the month of reactivation.
• The Board of Directors of the HBAGTA has the jurisdiction to cancel any membership with no refund based on Association By-laws and policy.

Events:

• Annual Events such as the Home Builders EXPO, Parade of Homes and Showcase of Remodeled Homes are governed by specific contracts that state no refund will be given for cancellation.  Payment is required with the contract to participate.
• Education:  Each registration must be guaranteed with a check or credit card payment to hold a seat in any course.  No refund will be made unless a cancellation is made in writing to the HBAGTA and Executive Officer 10 days prior to event.

All Other:

• All other refunds of payments will be made at the discretion of the HBAGTA Board of Directors or their representation by the Executive Officer.  Requests for refund must be received in writing and directed to the Board of Directors.  Any signed contract will be used as reference for the request.
