Committees & Councils

HBA of Northwest Michigan has professional staff to manage day-to-day functions but our success is a direct result of our member's support and involvement.  As a volunteer-driven organization, our many committees help guide events and activities throughout the year.

Codes & Legislative Committee

​This committee focuses on local legislative issues, defending the homebuilding industry against harmful regulatory and legislative issues that can threaten the homebuilding industry. Builders, developers, planners, architects, engineers, and attorneys will find it interesting and rewarding to participate on this committee.

Golf Tournament Committee

This committee produces a fun filled golf and banquet event at one of our area's finest courses. Our goal is to treat our golfers like a pro on and off the course.

Home EXPO Committee

This committee produces a 2-day event, bringing nearly 120 exhibitors under one roof to showcase products and services related to the residential building community to over 2,000 visitors.

Membership Committee

This committee promotes the advantages of joining and maintaining membership with our Association. This is a rewarding and enjoyable position that puts you in contact with many of the new and existing members through the various retention programs.

Parade of Homes Committee

This committee produces a 4-day tour showcasing the work of our builder members, their subcontractors and suppliers around the Grand Traverse Area.

Scholarship Events Committee

This committee produces an event that brings our community together to raise money for scholarships, supporting students in our area who have chosen to make skilled trades their career choice.

Workforce Development Committee

This committee focuses on some of our short term and long term goals of being an active proponent of construction industry related education programs in our local community.  Committee members with an interest in supporting and promoting this initiative through the community connections, knowledge and ideas have joined the committee.  The committee is responsible for the development of an apprenticeship program, the HBA Scholarship Dinner, HBA education courses, and school outreach.
